Life

Life

I recently had the privilege of attending a course on Regenerative Agriculture after watching documentaries, reading books, and getting involved in large ranch projects in faraway lands.

The more I’m learning about these practices, the more I marvel at the intelligence of creation. There is no aspect in life where the phrase “as above, so below” doesn’t apply. Our world has a consciousness and a body, just like we do. What happens below the soil, like what happens below the surface of our body, carries the health that’s reflected on the outside.

And just like people can heal themselves from advanced health ailments, so can the soil heal itself, once the earth ceases to be assaulted with chemicals going against its very nature.  This healing can only happen when we finally decide to stop and observe, remembering that it’s a perfect system requiring only our respect, not the need to manipulate or control.

Every day looking out my window, my garden calls to show me life. In that very moment, all those living creatures are expressing life in their own unique ways and I feel so honored to witness it. These moments carry so much wisdom and entertainment! Watching birds taking turns to bathe in the water fountain or creating a new nest in one of the flowerpots; bees “going crazy” around the latest blooms; some gorgeous one-nighter flowers starting to close down after showtime the night before; lizards sunbathing and squirrels munching on some fruit; the weight from very healthy lemons and oranges on their trees, like building muscles on the branches; the weeds I’ve grown to love, after learning that they are like healing scabs to the soil—and exactly what the soil needs in that specific spot.

Life desires to emerge constantly, against all odds. And so we humans also are born again each morning when we wake up. It’s literally a new life, a new creation on a blank canvas where anything is possible. It’s also a good opportunity to remember that the moment we stop deliberately creating is the point when we lose our lust for living joyfully.

The act of creation is what keeps us engaged in life; it’s not the finished piece that does it. We’ll marvel at the masterpiece in its entirety when we look back on our lives.

Deliberately creating life is the meaning of true freedom.

Thank you for this beautiful reflection, Paula. We, the people, are connected to earth in so many ways… throughout energy and synergies. If we would just allow the healing process enough time, without interferences…that would be perfection. Mother Nature 🩵
